THE INNER JOURNEY is a scholarly article about what the author calls 'potential astrology' which is a branch of perennial astrology, that is not divinatory but revelatory in character. It namely uses only the birth chart and reveals the karma, dharma, gifts, talents and special opportunities of the person in his or her present incarnation. It therefore is often used for child counseling, telling the parents what the special gifts and talents of their child are and how best help developing them. Another application where potential astrology used is career consulting, as the best profession is always the one we have a special gift for. Even folk wisdom knows that every person has something special about him or her and is destined to do certain things better than anybody else. Potential astrology uses a technique called 'Moon Nodes Analysis', which establishes an axis in the theme, with a North Node and a South Node. The South Node is the constellation the person should move away from in this present incarnation and the North Node the constellation where he or she should move toward to. It is important to realize that this kind of astrology is rather unknown among the greater public and serious astrologers who practice it are few, among them the famous American psychoanalyst and astrologer Liz Greene who lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland (astrodienst.com).
