Mischa Maisky: Complete Recordings on Deutsche Grammophon

Star cellist Mischa Maisky has been the exclusive artist of Deutsche Grammophon for a good three decades and has recorded more than 40 albums during this time, including many concerts with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and with conductors such as Leonard Bernstein and Zubin Mehta or Giuseppe Sinopoli. Among his numerous chamber music recordings, his long-term partnership with Martha Argerich deserves special mention, as well as recordings with many other important soloists such as Lang Lang, Sergio Tiempo and Gidon Kremer. Maisky's discography on the Yellow Label is a compendium of the classic cello repertoire, but also contains less well-known items and arrangements for cello. Deutsche Grammophon is honoring this remarkable oeuvre with a limited 44-CD set, which documents the entire work of the artist for the label, supplemented by some recordings from the earlier Philips Classics and including some international first releases.
