The setting for this story is a 19th century country residence, Rowden House, named after a historic family called Rowden whose ancestry reached back to the time of Richard Lionheart. Rowden House and its rural estate is situated on the edge of the town of Yelland. Over the years it had had a number of reincarnations. These were finalized in the new century as a residential estate made up of 40 apartments and housing units incorporated into the main house and its outbuildings.
On Friday 18th October 2019, one of the leaseholders dies. Did he commit suicide? It seems so, until the Forensic team find evidence which raises doubts. Detective Inspector Dermond Morrison and his dedicated team are called in to investigate what is redesignated as a suspicious death.
Who was Alistair Makepiece? Something of a loner, when it comes to tracing his friends and associates. Why would anybody want to kill him? Was it Tina, an occasional female visitor? Was it someone taking revenge on him for the predatory treatment of women that his father was known for? There's precious little information coming forward in the investigation to lead to any suspect... until the search through records highlights some calls to his house phone and mobile numbers. Who came to see him on the evening of Friday the 18th of October? That's the question!
