In 1976, Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards founded the legendary CHIC Organization Ltd. Together they wrote and produced many number one hits and very quickly became the biggest hit music factory since Motown. As well as the success of their original material, 8 studio albums in total, CHIC also became one of the most sampled bands in the world. The bass line from the classic hip hop anthem Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” comes from CHIC’s “Good Times”, “Lady” by Modjo comes from “Soup for One”, Notorious BIG sampled “I’m Coming Out” and Will Smith rearranged “He’s The Greatest Dancer” by Sister Sledge. In addition, many artists have been heavily influenced by Bernard Edwards’ bass line in “Good Times”, most famously Queen with “Another One Bites The Dust”. A few years after the dawn of Disco, Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards disbanded The Chic Organization Ltd., but they kept on playing & producing, with Nile Rodgers quickly becoming the biggest pop producer of the 80’s. In 1983, he produced David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and in 1984, Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”. Many more artists also benefited from his incredible production skills and unique guitar style, including Mick Jagger, INXS, Duran Duran, Eric Clapton, Hall & Oates, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones…to name but a few. A few years after the death of Bernard Edwards, Nile Rodgers put together a new line-up and is actively touring around the world as well as collaborating with different artists including most recently Daft Punk. Their disco-drenched single Get Lucky, featuring Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams, has just become the fastest selling single of 2013 as well as the biggest hit of the French duo’s career! Warner Catalogue is proud to present the first box set to give access to the CHIC Organization Ltd. archives. The boxset includes Chic’s biggest and best tracks, rare versions, outtakes, remixes (by French DJ Dimitri from Paris) and amazing unreleased songs, all overseen by Nile Rodgers himself.
