The Alchemy of Mind: Poems

Flamur Vehapi was born in Kosova where he studied until the Serbian regime closed the schools for the Kosovar Albanians. During the war in Kosova, he was forced to leave his country in order to survive the persecution and the daily massacres organized by military rule of Slobodan Milo?eviæ. Flamur lived in a refugee camp in Macedonia, and later moved to Sicily and then to Switzerland. After the war, he returned home and continued his education there.
In 2005 he came to America to attend Rogue Community College and served as a student senator. Now, as a psychology major at Southern Oregon University, he is a student ambassador for Kosova and a public speaker, sharing his story and the history of his country in schools and organizations in Southern Oregon. In 2008, one of his poems won the Editor?s Choice Award of Poetry.com.
