Publisher Marketing: As the direct heir of his father's duchy in Lancaster fifteen-year-old Bradley Whittam always knew that his future was assured. However, together with his best friend Thomas he had a yearn to go into space, a dream fuelled by the United Kingdom taking a front role in the exploration of the cosmos. Bradley had managed to convince his father to let him go to the British space centre BriSEC for his summer school placement and whilst there he and Thomas cleverly averted a certain disaster. Their actions eventually led them to realise their dreams and as young men in their twenties they became the youngest astronauts ever in the British space programme. However, during Bradley's first light speed test of the latest Explorer craft a freak accident catapulted him light years across the galaxy to a world where the Watchers, mysterious guardians of the galaxy, were eyeing Earth as a potential threat and had begun to formulate plans for an invasion. An elder monk named Calderan rescued Bradley and taught him in their ways, convincing him to take the role of 'Watcher' on Earth. The earl was to learn skills far in advance of anything on Earth, skills that would change his life forever. An acceleration of chaos on Earth prompted Calderan to send Bradley back to Earth and upon his return he would embark on a mission of averting world disaster, challenged by a new set of tests for his skills culminating in the greatest of all - a test of friendship with Thomas!
