The fires went out and Hope knew she had lost everything, Jost, Jay, her unborn daughter, Neik, Katy, and Deeter. How could she go on? Captain Winn rescued Hope physically but mentally she didn?t wish to live; there was nothing to be done except keep her on the ship while he bought furs and worked his way down to his home port of Detroit and see if he could let her off someplace. After a long voyage the ship reached Detroit, and Mooney, who was the man who loved Hope since he first laid eyes on her several years before. Could anyone put Hope back together again or would she remain a shell of the woman she was formerly?
