Jake Harper's dog Dusty lay on a gravel road, his guts torn open, weapon and suspect unknown. His wife has disappeared. Her blood-stained car found abandoned on a rural road.

Jake, back home on his farm after Russian oligarch Pietr Okneyev, hired by source unknown, perpetrated his near-death experience in Cuba where Jake had been serving as an undercover Homeland Security Agent, now finds himself embroiled in a dispute with local law enforcement after the shooting of his dog and the disappearance of his wife.

Best friend TJ Alvarez, undercover Metro Charlotte SWAT Gang Unit member, also finds himself on the other side of the law, missing along with Jake, after several members of The El Diablos, a Mexican motorcycle gang connected to the Juarez Cartel, are found locked inside a moving van--their leader and his computer files unable to be found. Local law enforcement has labelled Jake and TJ possible armed and dangerous domestic terrorists and a bounty is placed upon their heads.

Jake and TJ must go on the run from local law enforcement, the feds and the cartel in order to find out how Jake's dog was shot, discover what happened to Jake's wife Elena, and determine if Jake's old nemesis, his neighbor Thurmond Tindal and his government weapon manufacturing company Tindal Industries is connected to the cartel's plans to obtain a weaponized UAV called "The Hive". They become the hunters and the hunted in their quest to prove the fragmentary evidence, labelling them armed and dangerous fugitives, is, unequivocally, wrong.
