Leadership and Change Initiatives in a Volunteer Runorganization: Accepting Change:co-creating the Future

Shifting demographics, differing inter-generationalvalues, changing business practices, leadershipdevelopment, business management practices, thecontinual need to provide relevant training, andissues of recruitment and retention constantlychallenge both the for profit and the not-for-profitorganization. This action research study takes placewithin BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion, one of Canada largest community serviceorganizations. Non-profit sustainability is acritical weaving of sound business practices andsupporting growth in the volunteer membership throughleadership, learning, inclusion, and co-operation. This book provides current and aspiring leaders withinsight into the internal complexities involved inchange initiatives and change management. Additionally the findings and recommendationsdemonstrate how shared values and collective voicesin a grassroots volunteer workforce systemicallyinfluences organizational decision-making practices, which supports a climate where change is more readilyaccepted.
