Use of Journal Literature in the Field of Sciences: in University of Hyderabad and Osmania University, Hyderabad: a Comparative Study

This book is based on primary data obtained through questionnaires circulated to faculty members and Ph. D. scholars on the use of journal literature in the field of sciences covering both print and electronic journals supported by the necessary secondary data from the publisher's site. This study compares the data collected from two Universities in Hyderabad, India viz University of Hyderabad and Osmania University. The analysis was statistically tested with CHI-SQUARE and ANOVA one way test of variance for ranking of databases. This study is a unique one comparing the usage data of two universities. The highly used databases in both the universities are Science direct, SCIFINDER , and Biological Abstracts. Online journals and databases are supplementing their immediate research needs. User community in both universities prefer print and e-journals for future subscription. Most preferred search engine is Google by both the universities. When the information sources are not sufficient the user community in both universities get the required information from other local libraries and document delivery centers.
