A decent first effort by an R&B legend. Very few male R&B/Soul singers have a resume as

brilliantly decorated as Raphael Saadiq. He was the founder of the band that Prince tried

unsuccessfully to recruit back in the mid/late 80s Tony! Toni! Toné! followed by R&Bsupergroup

Lucy Pearl. 'Instant Vintage' is truly gospeldelic, with soul and funk. Raphael

Saadiq has a highly creative mind and it flows through his music. Standout tracks that

highlight the best of Saadiq's knack for catchy hooks, memorable melodies, and even

offer a glimpse into his future retro-drenched and critically-lauded work are "Body Parts,"

"Be Here," "Still Ray," "People," "What's Life Like". An instant classic!
