The West Side Story Guy

An exquisite dancer, actor and singer, GEORGE CHAKIRIS is indelibly linked to "West Side Story", having won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe as "Best Supporting Actor" for his portrayal of Bernardo Nunez, leader of the Sharks, in the multi-Oscar-winning 1961 movie. While much of his recording activity was a spinoff of his mainstream dancing/acting career, he enjoyed sporadic singing success, both in the UK and the US. Between 1958-60, while based in London, he cut an LP and registered one hit 45, 'Heart Of A Teenage Girl'. Following the success of the "West Side Story" movie he cut a couple of US hit albums, "West Side Story's Dynamic George Chakiris" and "Memories Are Made Of These". This unique compilation presents the standout tracks from his first three LPs, plus a trio of singles, the first time this body of work has been thus assembled.
